| Social Media - Why just now? |
|
Good question. I've had my business for almost two years now, my site on the current domain for for about a year and a half, but I haven't ventured in social media until now. Or that's what you might think all of a sudden, however, I've been on Facebook for around three years already, I've had my LastFM-profile for over four years, MySpace approximately just as long and LinkedIn on top. As a private person. Further, I've hung out on various internet forums since so and so from the year ninety and eight at least. I've done a fair share of blogging in Finnish also. Twitter and business Facebook page and blog come along at the same time as this site overhaul. So does my offering of social media services. I made my first homepages as they used to be called at the time, around 1998 by the way. Yeah so...a new thing for me? Social media? I'm of the generation and a group of people, to whom the wonderful world of teh interwebs aka internet aka the web is familiar all the way from the humble beginnings of its current form. I've grown into it and have been, in my part, making it before this whole web 2.0-social media-facebook-twitter-etc -hype and to whom the web in its very nature has always been a social media. In fact, this whole package, now called social media, was in my opinion spread around and fragmented in small pieces all around the internet long before Facebook or Twitter. It's just that the masses didn't know much about them and they were yet to be wrapped in a shiny new package suited for the masses. I can say that I know this medium and the field, I know the hype, what's behind that hype and I think I know what that hype is all about. This really is not all that overwhelming. For me. |
