Hi!I am Mikko, a 30-something freelance web designer, consultant and pixelsmith currently based in Rovaniemi, Finland, by the Arctic Circle. I am a Bachelor of Arts and Design majoring in Media Studies and minoring in Multimedia and Video Expression, a graduate of University of Lapland. I finished my degree in 2008. I have a firm background in visual design and my experience in the business spans already a decade. My skill set also includes usability and interaction design, or User Experience/UX, but I prefer those words rather than this buzzword. I know HTML and CSS and some simple scripting, such as Flash ActionScript etc. Other than that, I don't code, thus I'm a designer first, not a developer. Prior to my current freelancing I have worked with both small and large clients and projects for private and public sectors. My roles have ranged from design and implementation to lead design and assistant project managing, not to forget testing, an integral part of every phase in a project. I am competent with quality standards methodologies and I've made a habit of employing them in all my projects regardless of scale. On top of the abovementioned I have worked in some film and video productions and they are always a welcomed change for all this pixelsmithing. |

In the case of Guimikko it stands for Graphics, Usability / User experience, Interaction.
The websites I design, and other design and consultancy services I offer stand firmly on those three principles - not neglecting light bandwidth requirements, functionality and W3C standards.
